Hello there! My name is Emerson Eller. I'm a professor, researcher, and type/graphic designer based in Brazil. Eller Type is the type foundry through which I disseminate my practices and projects in type design.

My professional activity is divided between teaching, academic research, and the development of independent projects. I have a strong interest in graphic history and visual culture, which inform and support my approach to contemporary design solutions.

I am open to institutional collaborations, research projects, teaching activities, and participation in typographic, editorial, and experimental graphic practices.

I hold a PhD in Communication Design from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon, Portugal (2015–2020), and a Master’s degree in Design from the State University of Minas Gerais, Brazil (2012–2014). I also completed the Intensive Type Design (TDi) course at the University of Reading, United Kingdom, and hold a specialization in type design from the Expert Class Type Design at the Plantin Institute of Typography, Museum Plantin-Moretus, Antwerp, Belgium.

I am currently an Associate Professor in the undergraduate Design program at the Federal University of Minas Gerais – UFMG (Belo Horizonte, Brazil). I have taught courses and conducted lectures and workshops at the Faculty of Fine Arts of University of Lisbon, the School of Social Communication (Lisbon, Portugal), the Federal University of Ouro Preto (Ouro Preto, Brazil), and the School of Design at UEMG (Belo Horizonte, Brazil). I am available to collaborate with universities and other institutions through lectures, workshops, or presentations of research and project outcomes.
