Hello there! My name is Emerson Eller, an independent type/graphic designer based in Brazil. Eller Type is my digital type foundry.

I divide my working time between freelance, academic researches, and personal projects. With a deep interest in history and vernacular culture, I turn these subjects into contemporary design solutions.

I’m open to working either in collaborations or commissioned works, from type design to logotypes. I’m also enthusiastic to carry out new research projects.

I have a Ph.D. in Communication Design at the Fine Arts Faculty of the University of Lisbon, Portugal (2015-2020). I hold a master’s degree in Design, Culture, and Society from Universidade do Estado de Minas Gerais, Brazil (2012–2014).
In 2016, I joined the Type Design Intensive course at the University of Reading, UK.
I also graduated in Expert class Type Design (2018-2019) – Plantin Institute of Typography, Museum Plantin-Moretus, Antwerp, Belgium.

I have taught, lectured, and directed workshops at the Fine Arts Faculty of Lisbon, Social Communication School (Portugal), Federal University of Ouro Preto, and School of Design at the University of Minas Gerais (Brazil). I’m always happy to visit schools or other institutions to give a talk or workshops.
